The Problem of Evil

We have been studying the Ragamuffin Gospel by Brenan Manning in the four churches for the past few months.  What I have found interesting is that the more we discuss the ideas of grace/love the more the topic of evil weighs into the picture in the minds of the participants and into the discussions.  How could a God of love and grace allow evil in the world?  How do we extend that same love and grace to others, especially to those that commit evil... who ARE evil?  Yes, there are people in this world who are just simply evil.  We can try to be like so many who isolate themselves from the world, but where does that leave the tax collectors and prostitutes?  The answer lies in understanding how to engage the "evil" in a Godly way.  I think this would make for a very interesting adult spiritual education.  If you have any good resources or thoughts for a congregational study please let me know.  The two I'm looking at right now are:
