Clergy Conference

Headed up to Polson and Camp Marshall for a few days to the annual Clergy Conference.  This year’s speaker is the former Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold.  Have met him on a few occasions and heard him speak at one of them.  It will be interesting to watch this time and see if the clergy fawn over him the same way they did Katherine Jefferts-Schori at last year’s Diocesan Convention.

Well, the election and approval of the Bishop of New Hampshire happened under his watch (I imagine with the departure of the last conservative dioceses including the last Anglo-Catholic ones that issue will be settled by the left at your next General Convention - I defend all churches' rights to govern themselves and to their property) but he reminds me more than the present, more in-your-face PB of the old country-club liberals under whom AC parishes and dioceses (under a golf-playing latitudinarian PB) could live relatively in peace. Not the same really as Catholic ecclesiology (the bishop, with the apostolic authority of the infallible church, calls the shots in his diocese - not liturgical congregationalism) but gentlemanly. (With his J. Crew looks, he looks the part.)
